THE GREAT COMMISSION

Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” ??????
Matthew 28:19-20
Main Text: Jude 3

It is interesting to note that in the original Greek, the only direct command in Matthew 28:19-20 is “make disciples”. Th Great commission instructs is to make disciples while we sojourn throughout the world. Make disciples is the primary command of the Great Commission. We fulfill the Great commission when we raise disciples.

Throughout the book of Acts, we see how the Apostles began to fulfill the Great Commission as outlined in Acts 1:8. First Jerusalem is evangelized, then the Spirit expands the church and finally, the gospel reaches into the ends of the earth. Today, we are to act as ambassadors for Christ and reconcile the world back to God. 2 cor 5:20 “We are therefore ambassadors on behalf of Christ, as though God were entreating by us: we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

We have received a precious gift, Jude 1:3 “Dear friends, I had been eagerly planning to write to you about the salvation we all share. But now I find that I must write about something else, urging you to defend the faith that God has entrusted once for all time to his holy people.”

Jesus words in the Great Commission reveals the heartbeat of God who desires all men to be saved (1 Tim 2:4). The Great commission compels us to share the good news until everyone has heard it.

Prayer: This year I refuse to be ashamed of the good news and preach Christ wherever I go. Amen!

Further Reading; Luke 19:13 “Before he left, he called together ten of his servants and divided among them ten pounds of silver, saying, ‘Invest this for me while I am gone.’”

Jude 3 “Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I was compelled to write to you [urgently] appealing that you fight strenuously for [the defense of] the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints [the faith that is the sum of Christian belief that was given verbally to believers].”
