THE GIFT OF PASSION
“Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.”
Ephesians 5:25
Main Text: Galatians 5:24
In Songs of Songs, King Solomon extolls the supreme bliss of an intimate marriage, describing a love and attraction that is both intense and deep. Solomon portrays the profound preciousness of love—its beauty, delights and overwhelming power, and says all that one possesses cannot purchase such love— it is God’s gift to us, manifested in its fullest form in our marital unions, and is both passionate and companionate. Passion is the force that keeps you and your partner going. It is a key to a successful and happy married life. Passion is not only limited to sexual and intimate relations between two people. It also includes emotional connections, it can be non-physical and/or non-verbal display of affection and love. Passion also refers to strong feelings of attachment that force you or make you long for the other person.
Marriage is a sacred union between man and woman, ordained by God, and consecration will only release God's supernatural power in your marriage and ministry. Marriages will face many trials and tribulations; however, a couple committed to the sacrifice will exemplify the inherent discipline Jesus taught by living together in selfless humility.
The term “falling in love” isn’t found in the Bible because love is greater than the totality of feelings. Love is an intentional choice even when the passion and excitement are long gone. Love is stable and unconditional regardless of the sweaty palms and fireworks. Here’s the thing: God wants us to have a passionate, exciting, and fulfilling marriage. We can’t expect it to happen without putting some work into it. In order to make it happen, we need to make the time for it.
Prayer
ABBA, I am loved by you and helped by you! Therefore in the name of Jesus, show me insights on how to rekindle the passion in my relationship. Amen.
