WATCH AND PRAY
“And he told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart.”
Luke 18:1
Main Text: Job 22:27
To watch and pray means to be awake and on guard all our waking hours so that we can see when sin is at the door, desiring to entrap us. It means we have a constant connection with God. We must be sober minded and watchful.
Temptation has great power over a person who is not daily waiting upon the Lord. A large number of believers are riding on last year’s manna. They think they are going to eat one spiritual meal a week but the reality to resisting temptation you must eat fresh manna from heaven everyday through a quiet time alone with the Lord to soar above temptations and the cares of this life.
Watching without praying is like getting a diagnosis without a prescription. Praying without watching is like being in a clinic without knowing what’s wrong with you. When you wait upon the Lord, God strengthens you with might by His Spirit in your inner man and you will be able to bring every thought to the obedience of Christ.
Prayer
I love the Lord with all my heart, I choose His presence continually.
