THE POWER OF THANKSGIVING

“Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all His benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion.”
Psalms 103:1-4
Main Text: Main Text: 1 Chronicles 16:34

Thanksgiving is not an occasional and a spontaneous acknowledgment of a good deed. It is not the singing of praises either. Neither is it the clapping of hands. Rather, thanksgiving is a practical orientation to a lifestyle of genuine and continued appreciation of the acts of God in one's life. I want to say that again because I really believe that's what it is. That thanksgiving is a practical orientation to a lifestyle of genuine and continual appreciation to the acts of God in one's life.

Most people focus on the negative things because they only see what’s going on around them in the natural realm. However, there’s more than meets the eye in every bad situation. God has delivered us from trouble before, and we know He’ll do it again. One of the advantages of being in Christ is that we can expect supernatural help just when we need it; we can give thanks for this. “Always be joyful…Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:16,18)

Giving thanks isn’t something most people do in times of trouble but doing so connects us to the power of God. We can choose to wallow in self-pity or count our blessings. “…Neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength” (Nehemiah 8:10). An attitude like this strengthens us and lets us tap into the source of limitless joy.

Affirmation:

I am thankful! I praise you, Lord Jesus! Be thou exalted above all God! You are my rock and salvation! I love you Lord!
