QUIET TIME: THE BENEFITS OF READING THE BIBLE

“Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by eating ceremonial foods, which is of no benefit to those who do so.”
Hebrews 13:9
Main Text: Main Text: Revelations 3:20

The bible the word of God wasn’t given to us to hang on our shelves, rather it was given so we might grow, build our inner-man, and understand the principles and knowledge of God. The bible Is full of life, it’s God’s love letter to the Church. The bible isn’t just some great literature and best all-time selling book of all time, it is the Word of God for you. With this Word, you can face the obstacles of life and win. When you feel defeated, this Word has the capacity to energize and revitalize you, therefore, it is important you stay with the Word.

The Bible can help us see ourselves in perspective and cut through the distractions of pop culture that would lead us away from God. “The word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12). Christians who want to please God in their lives need to have a regular spiritual diet of God’s Word.

Reading the Bible is a spiritual discipline, which means that we need to be disciplined in how we approach it. If you lack the desire to read the Bible, pray and ask that God would give you a desire for his word. Then, build a time into your day to read Scripture and make this time a priority. You should then find people to hold you accountable to a reading plan. Maybe even start a reading plan with someone.

Prayer:

I have the desire to stay with God’s word, I won’t just read the Word, I will do the Word in Jesus name. Amen.
