THE POWER IN PRAYER
“Come near to God, and God will come near to you. You sinners, clean sin out of your lives. You who are trying to follow God and the world at the same time, make your thinking pure.”
James 4:8 (NCV)
Main Text: Main Text: Luke 18:1
Pray without ceasing is the clarion call of the Holy Spirit. In the natural realm, we inhale oxygen and exhale carbon dioxide, in the same vein, in the spiritual we inhale spiritual oxygen and exhale spiritual carbon dioxide. Prayer is the breath of the Christian. Everybody needs to inhale and exhale.
God draws closer to us as long as we draw close to Him. The more time we spend in prayer, the more we get to know God. When you visit a friend’s house frequently, you become so intimate with him you get to know most things that happen in that house. Similarly, when you are not familiar with a person, you feel uncomfortable in their presence most of the time.
1 Thess 5:17 (NCV) “Pray continually”. Prayer is communicating with God; it’s powering our heart to God – Hannah poured her heart out to God. Prayer is talking to God and having fellowship with Him. Isa 40:31 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” the eagle is renewed to a youth and is able to fly stronger than before, in contrast, those who forsake themselves make sacrifices and pay a dear price to wait on the Lord and this would lead to renewing their strength and mounting up with wings like the eagle.
Prayer
Father in the name of Jesus, I ask for a deeper relationship with the Holy Spirit this year thereby leading to a massive gathering of souls into your kingdom and church.
