STOP BEING DOWNCAST

“Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things, you will never stumble; for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
2 Peter 1:10-11
Main Text: Main Text: Jeremiah 29:11

We know God is faithful and He is able to keep His promises and in knowing his immeasurable goodness, we know He desires to bless us. 3 John 2 “Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.” However, the devil tries to steal our joy and this makes us less sensitive to the promises of God. One of the major ways of this is being downcast.

Satan being a wise being, knows that when man is downcast, will confess and say many things contrary to God’s word. Science explains to us that when man is depressed, one of the major areas it affects is our speaking and our faith. At that point, we think less of ourselves, we nag and complain, we compare ourselves with others, which is totally against God’s Word. 2 Corinthians 10:12 “For we dare not number ourselves, or compare ourselves, with some who commend themselves. For in measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, they are not wise.”

Let’s take a cue from Daniel, he had prayed concerning a matter, the devil tried to steal his joy and make him disbelief, rather, he embarked on a fast, maintained his faith and he was triumphant!

Daniel 10:12-13 “Then said he unto me, “Fear not, Daniel, for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard; and I have come for thy words. But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days; but lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, and I remained there with the kings of Persia.”

The devil is fully aware that if he steals our joy, we lack the faith we take God by His Word. Stealing your joy, invariably means your faith is stolen and the many designated blessings God has for you will not materialize.

Confession:

I walk in Joy! I refuse to be downcast! The greater one lives within me! Therefore, I can never be depressed! I walk in joy! Hallelujah!
