THE POWER OF THANKSGIVING
“I will praise the name of God with a song; I will magnify him with thanksgiving.”
Psalm 69:30
Main Text: Main text: Colossians 2:6-7
Thanksgiving magnifies God, it makes Him know we appreciate His wondrous works and find Him big in our eyes! Thanksgiving makes Him great in the sense of declaring his greatness. Here is the most foundational truth about biblical thanksgiving: it gives Him the glory he deserves. It exalts Him as the source of every good thing we enjoy. Gratitude changes our attitudes and our actions. It changes how we live. This is the power of living a life of thanks; of gratitude for our blessings, whether those blessings are great or small. This is the power of Thanksgiving.
Its important we make the act of giving thanks a culture not just in our local churches but in our personal lives! If you want to see the power of God, lead a life of gratitude before the Lord. Thanksgiving has a way of pushing out fleshly impulses and stoking our desire to honor our Father through our choices as well as our words. And that brings us to the next observation about the power of thanksgiving. Thanksgiving ushers us into the presence of God.
David had a thanksgiving lifestyle and was grateful to God for everything He did for him. The Bible told us in Psalms 119:164, that David praised God seven times a day for His righteous judgments. Because of David thanksgiving lifestyle, God said to him, “I will beat down his foes before his face, And plague those who hate him.” Psalm 89:23. If you want to be successful against your adversaries, build and develop the culture of giving thanks.
Confession:
I thank you Father, I praise your Holy name for your many wondrous works! I am blessed to be in the household of faith and I celebrate you Jesus! Hallelujah!
