GET RID OF INORDINATE DESIRE

“ For it doesn’t go into their heart but into their stomach, and then out of the body.” (In saying this, Jesus declared all foods clean.) He went on: “What comes out of a person is what defiles them. For it is from within, out of a person’s heart, that evil thoughts come—sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and defile a person.”
Mark 7:19-23

Covetousness is defined as being marked by inordinate desire for wealth or possessions that belong to another. The Cambridge dictionary defines it as having strong wish to have something, especially something that belongs to someone else. The Easton bible dictionary defines it as a strong desire after the possession of worldly things. It is sometimes the more aggravated form of avarice. Covetousness is crippling. Covetousness and Coveting are two different things; covetousness is a way of thinking that eventually leads to coveting. It’s a natural carnal mindset that doesn’t include God. Having money is not evil, it is the love of it that leads to evil. A person who is covetous and has no money can love money to the point of killing another person to make some money. God doesn’t mind if you’ve money, He just doesn’t want money to have you. It is impossible to handle money correctly without God’s help. God wants you to have money, He desires you control money with the right heart.

Confession:

By the power of the Spirit, I mortify idle, worthless and unproductive thoughts. I use my mind correctly to picture the glorious and victorious life I’ve been called to live in Christ. Amen.

Ezek 33:31 “So they come to you in crowds as if they were really ready to listen. They sit in front of you as if they were my people and hear your words, but they will not obey them. With their mouths they tell me they love me, but their hearts desire their selfish profits.”

Rom 7:7 “What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? Far from it! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “YOU SHALL NOT COVET”.
