PERFECT PEACE IN CHRIST JESUS
“When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.”
John 19:30
Main Text: Main Text: John 17:23
When Jesus paid the price for our redemption, He did not pay it in half. What He did was total! He laid down His life to give us the victory. What Jesus did was/is perfectly perfect and completely complete; nothing can be added to it. Rejoice in the finished work of Christ. “it is finished” is the English translation of the Greek word “Tetelestai” which was the last thing Jesus said before dying on the Cross. Tetelestai comes from the verb teleo which means “to bring an end, to complete, to accomplish.” It is a crucial word which signifies the successful end to a particular course of action.
In one of our previous articles, I explained when Jesus cried out ‘It is finished’ He meant “It was finished in the past, it is still finished in the present and it will remain finished in the future”. Jesus didn’t die saying “I am finished” for that would imply He died defeated and exhausted rather He said “it is finished” meaning I successfully completed the work I came to do! Hallelujah!
I also mentioned at that time when a person finally paid off a loan they were issued a receipt that was stamped with the word “tetelestai” this simply meant that the debt was now paid in full this is verification that they were no longer responsible for any of the debt, everything they owed was completely and permanently paid for. That’s exactly what Jesus did for you and me with His blood shed on the Cross, He paid it all! Perfect peace is what you now enjoy in Christ Jesus! With
Confession:
I belong to God! I’m blood bought, Jesus paid it all, and everything I lay my hands on prospers! Thank You Father! I am a star! I move from glory to glory! Glory to God!
