STEALING
“You shall not steal, nor deal falsely, nor lie to one another. You shall not swear falsely by My name, so as to profane the name of your God; I am the Lord.”
Lev 19:11-12
Main Text: Main Text: 1 Tim 6:9-10
Stealing has become a national problem of epidemic proportion. Robbery robs us of real and eternal joy (Jer. 2:26). Stealing conflicts with the character of God whose image we bear. Our God is infinitely rich and not because He stole from another to enrich Himself (Deut 10:14) As people who bear God’s image, we must work hard and do honest work. When laziness and selfishness drives us to steal, we forfeit the opportunity to share in God’s righteous nature and reflect him to the world. Labor kills looting and hard-work kills hacking into what belongs to others (Eph 4:28). An honest hard work hinders dishonest gain. Robbery reveals our object of reverence. Our way of life cannot be unlinked from our views of God. Reverence of God makes war on stealing. The secrecy of stealing despises the all-seeing eyes of God. If you’ve stolen anything in time past, I implore you to repent before God and return it in double fold to the person involved (Prov. 6:31) remember, there’s no peace for the wicked and stealing is wickedness! (Isaiah 48:22).
Prayer:
I am of a Greater life; I refuse the spirit of stealing in my surrounding! I recover all that was stolen from me! And I repent from those I stole from in Jesus name. Amen.
