THE HONOUR OF GOD

"He whose walk is blameless and does what is righteous who speaks the truth from his heart"
Psalm 15:2
Main Text: Psalm 15:1-2

Some of the things that can happen to a believer of whom God’s testimony of honour is labelled. We can say that God favours that believer, fights against his enemies, does supernatural things because of him, changes the course of nature for his sake, etc. Also, because God honors him, men honor him as well.

Another thing that happens when God honors you is that even His creatures obey your instructions. Why do you think the elements obeyed Elijah when he declared in 1 Kings 17:1 that there would be no rain? Elijah was a man that stood before God. And we know in those days, even now, it is not everyone that is qualified to stand before the Holy God. Psalm 15:1-5 gives us an idea of who can stand before Him, and the summary is that that person must be righteous. Actually, the only way by which we can show that we honor God is by living according to His will; and the Lord said He would honor those that honor Him (1 Samuel 2:30).  Because Elijah, a man who was honored by the Lord, commanded that there should be no rain except by his word, the Bible records that there was no rain in the land for three and a half years (James 5:17).

The things that swallow up others will not swallow you up if you are recognized and honored by the Almighty. For instance, Noah and his household were spared when the Lord sent a flood to destroy every living thing on the surface of the earth. This was so because according to Genesis 7:1, Noah was the one that the Lord found righteous in his generation.

What is your stand before the King of glory? What can be said of your relationship with God? Live right so as to be reckoned with in Heaven. Be guided by His prevailing word and no force can deceive.

Prayer:

Honour me and my household O Lord in our daily activities.

Genesis 7:1-5:

And the Lord said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation. Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female. Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth. For yet seven days, and I will cause it to rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living substance that I have made will I destroy from off the face of the earth. And Noah did according unto all that the Lord commanded him.
