HELL: A REAL PLACE

“And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.”
Luke 16:23 (KJV)
Main Text: Main text: Luke 16:23-24

One of the most vivid description of hell you’ll find in scripture came from the mouth of Jesus Himself. We must understand that this story Jesus shared wasn’t some fable or a made up story to illustrate a point, Jesus said “THERE WAS A CERTAIN RICH MAN”. He’s referring to a real event that happened to real people, Jesus knew things by revelation knowledge and more so, He has been since the beginning. John 1:1-2 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.”

At the moment the beggar died, most people probably thought his existence was over, after death – nothingness, annihilation but Jesus goes further to state Luke 16:22 “And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried.” It’s clear from this passage that the first thing you’re going to see when you die is angels coming to escort you to heaven.

It makes sense when you think about it. When you’re entering a realm, you’ve never known, you need some guidance, someone who knows their way around. As a believer when you die, your angel will guide you to the presence and glory of God. From this passage there are several things we can learn about this awful place called hell, and in the coming days we’ll learn about them.

Prayer:

Dear Lord Jesus, I accept that I am a sinner, I acknowledge that you died and rose again for me, I believe that I am cleansed by your Blood, I accept you as my Lord and Savior, now I am born again, now I am the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus. Glory to God.
