ENDEAVOUR TO OWE NO ONE

“The wicked borrows and does not repay, But the righteous shows mercy and gives.”
Ps 37:21
Main Text: Main Text: 1 Tim 6:9-10

One of the most well-known verse on debt is Proverbs 22:7 “The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” If you have ever taken out debt, you can relate to this verse. Debt can frustrate, it brings stress, it gives one a sense of hopelessness, more so, the weight of the debt is heavy and seem never ending. The bible warns against debt and extols the virtue of not going into debt, however does not forbid debt. Money is an amplifier of character – one of the best test of character is monetary transactions.

One of the distinguishing marks of a wicked person is his lack of trustworthiness. A righteous person not only meets their obligations, they practice generosity. Sin leads a person to selfishly take from others; godliness encourages charity and kindness. Repaying our debt honors God and is the morally right thing to do.

God doesn’t want us to be careless with our money. He wants us to handle our money His way so that it doesn’t have to consume so much of our time, energy and thoughts.

Confession:

The Father daily loads us with benefits and causes His blessings to overtake us. Wealth and riches are in our house and we increase more and more. God has given us power to get wealth to establish His kingdom here in the earth and millions are now hearing the gospel and receiving Jesus as Lord. We are plenteous in goods, for God has given us richly all things to enjoy. I repay all unpaid debt and become debt free in Jesus name, Amen!
