HELL: A REAL PLACE OF TORMENT 3
“Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men; but we are made manifest unto God; and I trust also are made manifest in your consciences.”
2 Corinthians 5:11 (KJV)
Main Text:
Hell is total, conscious, and eternal separation from the blessings of God. Jesus describes hell as a place of great darkness and gnashing of teeth. Hell is a place of extreme torment and absolute separation from God. God didn’t intend for mankind to go there, hell was created for the devil and his angels, however, we make the decision where we end up. Matt 25:41 "Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.”
Jesus describes hell as a place of intense suffering, man was not created to suffer, man was created to enjoy life to the full until it overflows (John 10:10). The Prophet Isaiah describes hell as a place where the fire burns and never quenches. Isa 66:24 "And they will go out and look upon the dead bodies of those who rebelled against me; their worm will not die, nor will their fire be quenched, and they will be loathsome to all mankind."
Sin against God is more serious than we realize, it’s an insurrection against the holy and worthy creator God who deems it as an infinitely heinous offense. On the brighter side, God sent Jesus to die for us so we don’t ever have to visit that horrible place. God loves man so much that He died for man to experience the peace that passes all understanding, why don’t you choose that God.
Prayer: Dear Lord Jesus, I choose you, I choose you above all else, help me to stay true and loyal to your word, in Jesus name.
Further Reading: Rom 2:4 (AMP) “Or are you [so blind as to] trifle with and presume upon and despise and underestimate the wealth of His kindness and forbearance and long-suffering patience? Are you unmindful or actually ignorant [of the fact] that God's kindness is intended to lead you to repent (to change your mind and inner man to accept God's will)?”
2 Thess 1:9 (AMP) “Such people will pay the penalty and suffer the punishment of everlasting ruin (destruction and perdition) and eternal exclusion and banishment from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power.”
