THE LAW OF THE FIRST MENTION

“The serpent was the shrewdest of all the wild animals the Lord God had made. One day he asked the woman, “Did God really say you must not eat the fruit from any of the trees in the garden?”
Genesis 3:1
Main Text: Main text: Genesis 4:10

The law of first mention teaches that to understand a word or doctrine, we should examine the first instance it appears in Scripture. This principle also suggests that to grasp a person’s character, we should consider their initial words. Applying this, Genesis 4:10 reveals that spilled blood has a voice—it speaks. This is why Scripture states that the blood of Jesus "speaketh better things than that of Abel" (Hebrews 12:24). The blood of Jesus carries a more profound message and offers a greater redemption than the blood of Abel.

To understand the true nature of the devil, we must examine his initial introduction. From the beginning, he tempts with questions, such as “Has God said?” or “Did God say?” His tactic is to plant doubt and divert you from God's promises. He used this approach to tempt Jesus as well. The proper response to such temptation is not to engage in dialogue like Eve but to follow Jesus' example. Respond with God's Word and reject the devil’s lies. The Word of God has the power to silence the devil.

Man’s reaction to God’s Word reveals a natural agreement with it. In Genesis 2:22-23, “when God created woman from man’s rib and brought her to him, Adam exclaimed, “At last! This one is bone from my bone and flesh from my flesh! She will be called ‘woman,’ because she was taken out of ‘man.’” This response reflects that man’s rightful reaction to God’s Word is one of affirmation. We were created to align with God’s will, and this alignment is essential to fully experiencing the Father’s promises.

Confession:

I declare in the name of Jesus, that I agree with the promises of God over my life, I am fruitful, I am prosperous, and I yield bountiful harvest in Jesus name, Amen.
