LET GOD TAKE UP THE BATTLE
“The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.â€
Exodus 14:14
Main Text:
In Exodus 14:14 NIV says, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” Just like all others in the Bible, this promise brings peace and joy to the heart of every believer. It is quite common to hear a Christian who is faced with a battle from human or spirit beings say, “The Lord will fight for me and I will hold my peace”. But how many believers actually hold their peace while God is supposed to be fighting for them? How many I ask you even you again?
Now, to hold your peace means to maintain your silence, to be still, quiet, calm. Have you witnessed a situation where a little child took up a fight for her mum when she is being insulted? At that point the mother keeps quiet to see her proud child taking up her fight. Someone who is holding his peace goes through the period of trials and temptations without murmuring or complaining. However, you still see Christians who murmur against God and complain all the time and yet quote Exodus 14:14. A sister once complained that God was unjust to her because in spite of her giving to support the gospel, God allowed her to become barren; what was God looking at to be in a shameful situation in her matrimonial home? After all, the reason she gave to support the gospel was for God to reciprocate her good gesture. How could God open His eyes and see her sufferdespite giving to His work? She queried!
Many believers complain God is delayed in rewarding their hard effort to the work of the gospel, instantly they expect to get their earthly reward. Some murmur against their pastors, teachers, spouses, etc., attributing their problems to what these people did or failed to do. In what area are you guilty of murmuring against God today? If you truly want to hold your peace and let God fight for you, wait on Him.
Prayer: Keep me stayed on You in times of trouble
