HUNGER FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS

“Blessed, fortunate, happy and spiritually prosperous …are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, uprightness and right standing with God, for they shall be completely satisfied”
Matthew 5: 6 (AMP)
Main Text:

When you hunger and thirst for righteousness –God’s way of doing things – then you will surely have complete satisfaction. You create your hunger by choosing what you focus on. For example, if you focus on your favorite food, if you start thinking about it early in the morning, and all throughout the day, chances are, by the end of the day you’ll be eating it if the purchasing power is there anyway! What you give your attention to, you will desire.

In the same way, the more you give your attention to God and His word, the more you will hunger for Him. To that effect I beseech you in this year of prevailing Word to crave more for the word of God.

Just like the scripture promises, when you hunger for righteousness, you will be completely satisfied. Your heart is the center of your life. It functions to place you correctly or wrongly in life. That’s why you are encouraged to guard it with all diligence using the word of God. The words of the world will only give you ‘fake’ joy. But if your heart is after God, you will always have hunger for righteousness and if the cravings of your heart are only the temporary things of life, you will be so rewarded though it may not guarantee peace, longevity and eternal life.

However, if your spiritual hunger is not directed towards God and you can’t feel any special interest in the things of God, it shows clearly that your love for God is not godly.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” Joshua 1:8.

Prayer:  Create in me hunger for righteousness
