DON’T BE CARNALLY MINDED 1
“For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.â€
Romans 8:6
Main Text:
The law of sowing and reaping is applicable to every man on earth. Whatsoever you do with your life and time will automatically yield results whether in nearest future or later in life. The results could be favourable or painful depending on the seed sown. Your investments in your life cannot but yield any of these results. Therefore, it’s important you invest wisely especially in your spiritual and physical developments.
You cannot please God until you start minding spiritual things. You stand to gain every kingdom benefit if you give yourself wholly to serving God and doing only His will. Part of His will for you is to reject carnality and be heavenly minded. “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.” (Colossians 3:1).
You must never forget that you are a sojourner here on earth. Therefore your devotion shouldn’t be to the things of the flesh but the things of God. You can never live an acceptable spiritual life with God if all you care to think of is the satisfaction of your flesh. “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” (Romans 13:14).
You need God in His totality. Therefore, begin to engage godly thoughts in all you do. You can’t continue to feed your dying and ageing fleshly longings to the detriment of your own soul. You must be spiritually minded and be ready to do God’s will. “It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.” (John 6:63). Beloved, in this year of His kingdom, be opened to the word of life and you cannot remain at the same level of the world any longer.
Prayer: Lord, help me not to be carnally minded but always pondering on how to get better spiritually through your word
