IT IS FINISHED

“But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:57
Main Text: Main text: John 19:30

In the final moments of His earthly ministry, Jesus uttered the powerful words, "It is finished" (John 19:30). These three words encapsulate the culmination of God's redemptive plan and the fulfillment of His promise to humanity. At the cross, Jesus accomplished what no human effort could achieve—He bore the weight of sin, conquered death, and secured salvation for all who would believe in Him. His sacrifice was complete, perfect, and sufficient to reconcile humanity to God.

Through His death and resurrection, Jesus declared victory over sin and death, offering forgiveness, redemption, and eternal life to all who would receive Him. Colossians 2:13-15 vividly portrays the triumph of the cross: "When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross."

As believers in Christ, we stand on the firm foundation of His finished work on the cross. We no longer strive to earn salvation through our own efforts but rest in the assurance of His grace and mercy. Hebrews 10:14 declares, "For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy." The words "It is finished" signify not only the completion of Jesus' earthly mission but also the beginning of a new era of redemption and restoration. Through His sacrifice, we are invited into a renewed relationship with God, filled with hope, purpose, and eternal significance.

Confession:

I declare that the work of redemption is complete in Christ Jesus. Through His finished work on the cross, I am forgiven, redeemed, and made whole. I embrace the victory of the cross and walk in the freedom and power it provides. In Christ, I am a new creation, empowered to live a life of purpose and fulfillment.
