BEAR SOMEONE’S BURDEN

Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ
Galatians 6: 2 (NIV)
Main Text:

The Bible says we are fulfilling the law of Christ when we bear each other’s burdens, when we pray for them and when we are supportive in their time of need. It pleases God when we live in peace and unity; when we love and serve others and put their needs above our own.  There are many ways to reach out to people and help carry their burdens. Bad to say, some people add to burden rather than to lift or bear. They go about gossiping and spreading killer-rumours of what should not be mentioned in the body of Christ. Have you not read in the Bible what God hates according to the book of Proverbs 6: 16-20? Check to know if you are guilty of any.

When you pray and intercede for others in their moment of difficulties, you are helping carrying their burdens. Maybe you can add/pay for someone’s school fees, or give counsel to a failing marriage. Anytime you help somebody and reach out to them, it’s like you are directly lending a hand to God.

Remember, in God’s kingdom what you sow, you shall reap. When you help others, God will raise help for you. He’ll make sure that people reach out to you in your time of need as well so that you will not be stranded. Even when you don’t have anyone around you God will ensure you are not stranded.

In bearing each other’s burden, we can come up as a small group just to give hope to somebody and can as well pray for one another’s “hopeless” cases. We can lean upon the faith of others when we start to doubt. In Luke 5, a group of friends took their paralyzed friend to Jesus. It’s a great story of a small group of men who took someone in need of healing to the feet of Jesus

Prayer:   Help me O Lord to always live my life in You
