CREATE IN ME A RIGHT SPIRIT

The generation we live in now, is not far in character to the Biblical Sodom and Gomorrah. In some countries in the West, abortion, prostitution, homosexuality and some other vices have been legalized, infact recently, even bestiality (marrying of animals) is being considered, so how is that different from Sodom and Gomorrah?. At a time in Nigeria, our law makers also attempted the idea of legalizing abortion and very recently they tried to legalize prostitution! Imagine what will happen if God decides to visit his wrath on our generation as He did to Sodom and Gomorrah, in Gen. 19?

The Lord honoured Abraham’s prayer and had mercy on Lot and his family, but obviously Sodom was already in their heart. When the angels of destruction arrived Sodom, Lot (still having godliness in him) welcomed them into his home, but the men of the land, being of a perverse mind, demanded to have the visitors defiled. It is surprising that Lot, instead, offered his virgin daughters to the Sodomites, ‘‘… do ye to them as is good in your eyes …” Gen. 17: 8c.

Many parents today are turning their children after the pattern of the ‘Sodomites’. The kind of clothes they buy for them, the music and films they are exposed to and even the friends they keep today have no godliness in them.

What has not allowed you to move forward in your walk with God? After all these years of being in Christ, do you have a consistent prayer life, quiet time, commitment to the fellowship of God’s Word? Or are you just claiming to be born again because it’s the norm in the land?

I charge today to lead your family in the way of the Lord. The best legacy you can leave for your children is to put the fear of God in them. When they know God under your watch, they will serve God sincerely when their alone. Never allow your mind to be corrupted with immoralities. Keep a right mind always. 

Prayer: Search my heart oh Lord, and impart your righteousness unto me
