ONE THING IS NEEDFUL

The theme of the church this year is One Thing. Most individuals probably wondered One Thing! How does that affect me? Our Lord Jesus shows Martha that one thing is needful and from the scenario played we understand that this One Thing represents the word of God. The Word is needful - it's more important than your career, business or anything you deem important. All man made things can be taken away from you, however, the word cannot be taken! Why is the word needful? Because one word from God can change your life forever. 

The word of God is powerful. It has the power to keep you away from sin. The Psalmist says "I have treasured your word in my heart so that I may not sin against you." (Psalm 119:11) CSB. The Word has the power to direct us. Psalm 119:105 "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path." (NKJV) God's word is light and when we study it daily and believe, our success is guaranteed. The word of God has quickening power. Psalm 119:25 "My soul cleaveth unto the dust: Quicken thou me according to thy word." (ASV). The word of God is needful. There are wondrous things in the word and when the Holy Spirit opens you to this wondrous things, you become the answer to the cry of your generation. Psalm 119:18 "Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law." (KJV).

The Word is needful- Jesus said One Thing is needful, and that is His word! God's word is light, and when we fellowship with this light, we are being imparted with the very mind of God, and the darkness or poverty, failure and even sin will fall. John 1:5 "And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." (KJV) 

Our delight must be in the word, when we study history, we see that those who treasured the word of God excelled in life. One thing is needful and that is the Word! The founding fathers of the greatest nation on earth today treasured God's word and used the Bible as a base line in forming their constitution. Today America is greatly celebrated. One thing is needful - The Word. 

Confession; I am blessed, I treasure God's word, I hold it dear to my heart and follow its instructions daily. 

Prayer: I will not be distracted from what is needful
