DEATH HAS BEEN DEFEATED

“So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:54-57
Main Text: Romans 5:14

I mentioned yesterday that Adam lost out through disobedience, resulting significantly in the reign of death. Remember, God had said to Adam, “…in the day that thou eatest thereof (the tree) thou shalt surely die” (Genesis 2:17). Like I said, He was talking about spiritual death which is the result of physical death. The Bible says, “…He also himself likewise took part of the same…that He might destroy him that had the power of death…” (Hebrews 2:14).

Jesus came, and through death, He destroyed him who had the power of death, the devil.

The fear of death keeps people in bondage. But Jesus Christ came to set men free from the fear of death. If death has no more dominion over the head, it doesn’t have dominion over any other part of the body; death has no power over you. (2 Timothy 1:10).

Confession

I’m fearless, for death has been paralyzed, completely defeated by Jesus! O death, where is your sting? O grave, where is your victory? When Jesus defeated death, I was in Him, and together with Him, I’ve triumphed over death and the grave! Hallelujah!
