DON’T PRAY AMISS

“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.”
James 4:3
Main Text:

To most believers, the challenge is not what to pray but how to pray right. I have seen several people in church and all over the place with different but atimes funny acrobatic and gymnastic style and postures when praying. Some others would shake their heads as if the shaking is what will bring the answers. While some postures will keep you awake and focused, some funny postures will only wear you out with time if you have no word backing.

Praying the mind of God transcends gymnastic shows in churches today. Praying according to God’s will must go with deep knowledge of the Word of God about the concerned area of interest or need you seek intervention.

Jesus in Mathew chapter six took out time to show his disciples how to pray, when to pray and to whom prayers should be rendered. If your prayer is not Bible based, you will end up in just exercise which will not break any yoke. You must get God’s word over your issues to know what to say while bringing up your points before His throne.

“… for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groaning which cannot be uttered.” Romans 8:26

No one can pray correctly except you are rooted and grounded in the Word of God. The Bible is the Word of God, and of course is God. Until you discover your portion through His word, you may not know well to pray. If you don’t know how to pray, you will end up praying amiss with no result.

You also need the help of the Holy Spirit to strengthen you in your times of prayers. He will help you to pray with the right words. You can pray in the spirit for several minutes without human understanding.

Prayer: Father, help me through your spirit to utter the right words in pleading my case before your throne
