ATTEMPT GREAT THINGS FOR GOD
“He said to them, “You are those who justify yourselves before men, but God knows your hearts. For that which is highly esteemed before men is an abomination before God.”
Luke 16:15 (MEV)
Main Text: MAIN TEXT: Mark 6:2
We must strive to attempt great things for God, understanding that the concept of greatness in the eyes of man often differs vastly from what God considers truly great. Jesus Christ taught that what is esteemed as greatness by men—such as running successful businesses or owning luxurious possessions—can be an abomination to the Lord. For God, true greatness is found in doing His work: building churches, winning souls, engaging in ministry, and fulfilling the Great Commission by reaching the lost.
While owning businesses and achieving success in the secular world can be commendable, God calls us to use these blessings as tools for advancing His Kingdom. Greatness, in God’s eyes, involves giving generously to the work of the Lord—supporting church planting, funding crusades, and investing in kingdom expansion. Our focus should be on using all that we have to serve God’s purposes, as this is what He deems as true greatness. Let us prioritize what matters most to God and align our actions with His desires.
True prosperity is born out of doing the work of God. Jesus taught that to be His disciple, one must deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Him. This means we must be willing to sacrifice personal luxuries and instead invest in the work of God—such as church planting, crusades, and the expansion of His Kingdom. This is true greatness and what truly matters before God. At the end of our lives, our businesses, possessions, and worldly achievements won’t follow us to heaven. However, the souls we have won for Christ will be there with us. So, why continue chasing after the fleeting rat race of the world? Let us instead dedicate ourselves to attempting great things for God, focusing on what has eternal significance.
Confession:
In the Name of Jesus, I boldly declare, I step out in faith, aiming to accomplish great things for the glory of God. I am not afraid to take risks or face challenges because I know that with God, all things are possible. I pursue His calling on my life with courage and determination, trusting that He will guide and empower me every step of the way. I am fully devoted and committed to the work of God's Kingdom. My life is not my own; I give my all to serve the Lord with passion and excellence. I prioritize His will above my own desires, using my gifts, talents, and resources to advance His purposes on earth.
