FASTING AND PRAYING 2

“But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:31 (ESV)
Main Text:

In several instances in the Old Testament, fasting is linked with intercessory prayer. David prayed and fasted over his sick child. 2 Samuel 12:16 “David prayed to God for the baby. David refused to eat or drink. He went into his house and stayed there and lay on the ground all night.” (ERV) Esther urged Mordecai and the Jews to fast for her as she planned to appear before her husband the king. Esther 4:16 “Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish." (ESV) There are two categories of fasting namely; a proclaimed fast and a personal fast. Joel 1:14 “Proclaim a holy fast, call for a solemn assembly, gather the leaders and all who live in the land to the house of Adonai your God, and cry out to Adonai.” (CJB) These fasts were already explained in our previous devotional for this month.

Beloved, I want to you to know that fast does not kill, it can only edify your spirit man. The more you engage in fast, the more your spiritual man is fine tuned to access the supernatural. This can only be another dimension to fellowshiping with the Holy Spirit, when you continually engage in fasting and praying.

Confession: I declare by faith that I walk in divine favor, I have preferential treatment, supernatural increase, restoration, I have prominence in Jesus name! I am blessed!
