THE POWER OF PERSISTENCE IN PRAYERS

And said to his servant, go up … now look toward the sea. And he said go... and it came to pass at the seventh time …there arises a little cloud out of the sea.
I Kings 18: 43 - 44
Main Text:

Persistence is refusing to take no for an answer, it is the determination to get a positive result against all odds. It is laying hold of God until you get your desired result. This is exactly what happened in the above scriptural reference.

Elijah despite the fact that God had told him concerning His counsel for Israel at that time (the release of rain) yet when he prayed initially, there was no sign of such that could match what God had said but the man Elijah refused to give up until he got an answer to his prayer. Jesus, in Luke 18: 1 also emphasized the need to persist in the place of prayer. He said, “Men ought always to pray and not to give up”, in other words men are expected to pray until there is release of their expectation. The irony of it all is that many faint in their hope before the release of their desires and thereby get their expectations aborted. The woman mentioned by Jesus in His illustration refused to give up until she was vindicated.

Remember Daniel, the scripture says, the first day he started to pray, his answer was released but a demonic power withheld the answer but Daniel, a man of prayer refused to give up until the answer was delivered on the twenty-first day of his prayer. It doesn’t matter how long you tarried but make sure you get the result.

Learn to persist in prayer, refuse to give up, no matter the odds, note that things don’t happen the way we expect them to at the initial stage but when we persist, things will fall in line, because, ‘surely there is an end and the expectation of the righteous shall not be cut off’. Slow and steady will surely win the battle for you in this 2018.

Prayer: Lord, I receive grace and strength to persist in the place of prayer
