THE BELIEVER’S AUTHORITY
And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying “all authority has been given to me in heaven and earthâ€
Matthew 28:18 (NKJV)
Main Text:
Your knowledge of the Word of God causes the transformation of your mind. We can only be transformed and renewed by the Word of God.
However, the talk-point here is centered on the Believer’s Authority i.e the authority of a believer in Christ Jesus. Therefore, we need to know who a believer is. In a simple term, a believer is the person or someone who believes in Christ Jesus as the Lord. He is a person saved and redeemed by the Blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on the Cross, he has accepted Christ as His Lord and personal Saviour. Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
A believr here is being described in the context of the church. If you therefore believe in Christ, the message is for you today. Romans 10:9-10 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
If you are born again, then you are a believer in Christ Jesus and you are the one who can actually rightfully exercise the authority you possessed in Christ.
In our reference text above, the Lord declared; And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying all authority has been given to me in heaven and earth. Matthew 28:18,
Beloved, nobody has ever spoken like Jesus declared in that authority. You have to be cork sure to say that all authority has been given to you. Well you might say Jesus is the Lord so He could say that because God has all authority and he could grant Him.
I have this good news for you, by virtue of your accepting Him as your Lord and Saviour, you have that right of declaration and the power to exercise that authority; the reason is because you are a joint-heir with Christ and the Spirit of Christ is in you.
Confession: Glory to God, I declare my authority over the power of darkness, I am seated in heavenly places far above principalities and powers, therefore, no demon can oppress me, no affliction can come my way for the Blood of Jesus makes the difference in me, I am a new creature, I possess the nature of God. Glory to Jesus.
