YOU CANNOT BE TEMPTED BY GOD
“Let no one say, when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God†for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyoneâ€
James 1: 13
Main Text:
At times, we go through very hard times, periods that are so life-threatening. Several questions will even begin to run through our minds. Some of us have said in our thoughts “maybe this challenge is from God to test my faith or something like that. How do I really know challenges that God permit in my life?”
In the Scripture, those that walked with God in the Old Testament had one story or the other to tell about how hard they lived up to challenges. Abraham had no legitimate child until he was 100yrs old. Isaac’s progress had to be blocked severally in the land that God had told him to stay. Jacob became a fugitive. Moses became a murderer and a fugitive. David said he almost died as a youth in Psalm 88: 15, and Elijah begged to die when persecution almost finished him. Jesus said His soul was extremely weary, and so on. Does it then mean that God is behind all these problems we go through in life today?
James 1: 13 clearly tells us God’s position in relation to the bad things that happen to us. God does not have to make us go through problems that threaten our lives for Him to teach us lessons. Jesus taught great lessons by parables, not by allowing His disciples face an accident or letting them fall sick or lose their jobs for nothing better. And even if it happens that way, He knows what to do. God does not bring anything evil to test you – it is the devil and you must put up a fight against it.
However, God may permit challenges in a believer’s life for some reasons which include; insensitivity to His warning, test of our loyalty to Him and disobedience. But whatever evil we experience is not from God but He has a way of escape for us. John.10:10
Prayer: I overcome every challenge before me in Jesus’ name
