EXPRESS YOUR LOVE
“And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is loveâ€
1 Corinthians 13:13, NIV
Main Text:
Spiritual maturity isn’t measured by how long you’ve been a Christian, how much you know, or how often you go to church. Spiritual maturity is measured by the way you treat other people. It’s measured by the love you allow to operate in and through you. It is measured by your level of proven integrity and responsibility. I so much talked about love and kindness yesterday and I still want to say more today.
1 Corinthians 13 gives us a picture of what love looks like. When we are walking in love, we treat other people with courtesy and respect. In other words, are you kind to your subordinate in office? Are you gentle when you are driving on the roads where someone cuts you off especially when you are in a hurry when Lagos drivers can make you go crazy? Are you patient with your family and neighbours? These are all characteristics of love, integrity and responsibility. The Bible tells us that love is patient. It is kind. It does not envy; it is not proud. It is not rude. Love is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrong. Love never fails.
Notice that these characteristics don’t have anything to do with feelings. Love is an expression.. You can choose to walk in love toward people even when you don’t feel like it! Do not love somebody because of what you expect to gain in return that’s eyes service. Do not mistreat your wife and children, give home allowance and take your children out occasionally to show them your love. Today, look for ways to cultivate the greatest thing in your life — love! Let love grow in you because it is the sign of spiritual maturity and opens the door for God to operate in and through you.
Prayer: Help me to always show love to people O Lord.:
