STOP TRUSTING IN MAN

“Woe to them that go down to Egypt for help; and stay on horses, and trust in chariots…
Isaiah 31:1
Main Text:

This was the statement made by a believer in America during a debate in preparation for their last election, he said; I don’t know what the future holds, other than that which the Scripture declare must come to pass. However, I do know this. Our hopes and dreams cannot be placed on the shoulders of a man, not even a president. I don’t know what life under a Donald Trump presidency will bring. I do know that if your trust is in Trump, you will be disappointed, because he is still just a man. A man in need of a Saviour just like the rest of us.

If there is anything that the Lord cherishes, it is absolute confidence and trust in Him. He often lavishes His blessings upon those that put their hope in Him especially, when the situation is going contrary to them. And again, God is not unjust to abandon us in our troubled water. The Bible says in the book of Hebrews 4:15 that we do not have a High Priest who cannot be touched by the FEELINGS of our infirmities. A trust in mortality is a distrust in immortality.

In the passage, God had harsh words for the children of Israel at this time for going down to Egypt to seek help against the king of Assyria. He was disappointed that the children of Israel had forgotten His great words and deliverances in the past. The foolishness in relying on ordinary mortals is further portrayed in verse three: “Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit.…”

God is not happy when we do not have faith in His ability to solve our problems. He wants us to have complete and absolute confidence in Him and His promises. Whenever we are faced with a difficult situation, the Lord wants us not to look towards men for help.

Prayer: I put my absolute trust in you O Lord
