MINISTERING UNTO THE LORD
“By him, therefore, let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name
Hebrews 13:15
Main Text: Acts 13:1-5 (KJV)
The phrase that is sometimes heard among those leading worship is that we must come and “minister to the Lord,” and since the word “minister” can bring to our minds the idea of “meeting needs,” we need to think seriously about what we are saying. This is a very important aspect of our Christian service. Ministering to the Lord is the essence of worship. You will never know the depth in the Spirit beyond the ordinary until you start ministering to the Lord. Ministering to the Lord is something you do consciously, not passively.
If you’re ignorant of the things of God and His mode of operation, you wouldn’t know how to put yourself in the way of His blessings.
To "minister to the Lord" is to worship him alone in all that you do. The Hebrews interpretation for the phrase “ministry to the Lord” means sharath, which means “to attend to, to minister unto, serve, or wait on.” In Psalms 134:1 &135:2, we find another dimension of ministry to the Lord. Here, the word minister is translated from the Hebrews word ‘amad’ which means, ““to stand, abide, continue, remain, tarry, or to stay up.”
Being filled with the Spirit, His divine glory and presence are transmitted through you in the words that you speak. God’s power to save, help, deliver and bless is in the Gospel, which you must convey and communicate by the power of God’s Spirit. Ephesians 5:18-20.
When you decide to wait on the Lord and meet His needs, your desires become fulfilled in God.
Confession: The nations come to me to receive answers, I am shining, my greatness cannot be hidden! I minister to the Lord and my needs are met in Jesus name.
