BEAUTIFY YOUR THANKSGIVING
Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High
Psalm 50:14
Main Text:
A leper came to meet Jesus asking for healing in Matthew 8:2-4. After receiving his healing, the Lord had a charge for him: And Jesus saith unto him, See thou tell no man; but go thy way, show thyself to the priest; and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them. Matthew 8:4.
Without an atom of doubt, the Lord has been so good to you and me so far in this 2020. If it has not been the Lord in us, we are empty. Thanksgiving is an uncommon virtue that generates uncommon results. Thanksgiving is acknowledging the God for, with and in you through divine life; the God behind any good thing in your life (gift of life, joy, peace). To acknowledge means to admit, to recognize, that God is behind the blessings in your life, e.g. you can talk, your legs and hands can move, God is behind it. Count your blessings and name them one by one. James 1:17, John 3:27.
The major lesson from Matthew 8:2-4 is that the Lord approves of your thanksgiving offering after God has done something spectacular for you. He told the erstwhile leper to go and offer the gift Moses commanded according to the law. When God does something spectacular in your life, give Him thanks in a spectacular way in this time of grace.
I am very sure the Lord has been so good to you and your house hold. A whole lot of reasons are there in your lips to thank God for. Do not stop at saying, “Thank you”. On thanksgiving service day like this, appreciate God with your substance, in addition to saying your thanks for all He has done, singing and dancing, offer a sacrificial thanksgiving. When you give, you only secure your divine life in Christ. He has done so much for me I cannot tell it all…
The size of your thanksgiving offering may really be stating the depth of your appreciation to God.
Prayer: Father, let my thanksgiving be reckoned with in you
