THE LAW OF FIRST MENTION 1
That the communication of thy faith may become effectual by the acknowledging of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.
Philemon 6 (KJV)
Main Text:
The principle of first mention is a guideline that some people use in studying scripture. The law of first mention says that to understand a particular word, doctrine or character we must find the first place in scripture that word, character or doctrine is introduced and study that passage. The reason is that the Bible's first mention of a concept is the simplest and clearest form to understand the person behind that dogma. Doctrines are then fully developed on that foundation, therefore, to fully understand an important and complex theological concept, Bible students are advised to start with its "first mention". In today's discussion, we will be looking at three different characters; God, Man and Satan.
"In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light." Genesis 1:1-3 (NIV)
In this scripture, God is introduced as the creator of the universe. It is also worthy to note that God abhors vacuum, the earth was empty, barren and a chaotic mass, then God beautified the earth. Isaiah 32:15 "until at last the Spirit is poured out on us from heaven. Then the wilderness will become a fertile field, and the fertile field will yield bountiful crops." God's Spirit moved and light came, where God is there can be no darkness. John 1:5 "And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it." In addition, we see God is a good God, and nothing He created was ugly, He called them Good.
Confession; I agree with God, I choose God, therefore, I am blessed, I have the power to create wealth, I enjoy divine ideas.
Prayer: I will not abandon my zeal for the Word of God
