WHAT IS THE TRUTH? 2
“Pilate said, “What is truth?†Then he went out to the Jewish leaders again and said to them, “I can find nothing against this man.â€
John 18:38 (ERV)
Main Text:
Like we saw in yesterday’s Menu, Pilate questions what is the truth, He has reverberated down through history. Was it a question asked out of a genuine heart? Was it a melancholic desire to know what no one else could tell him? Was it a cynical insult? John 14:6 “Jesus told him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.” Not long before being arrested and brought to the governor, Jesus had made this statement “I am Truth”. That was an incredible statement, the people must have thought, how could a mere man be truth? Was he more than a man? However, the Words of Jesus were proven in Romans 1:4 “And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead”. The words of Jesus were validated when He rose from the dead.
John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Jesus is that Word. The Word of God is the truth, Jesus said sanctify them by thy word, you word is truth (John 17:17). As New Testament Believers, we need to recognize the Word of God for ourselves and God’s word is truth, Pilate didn’t recognize this truth because of his religious mindset, Psalm 119:140 “Thy word is very pure: therefore, thy servant loveth it”. Build a relationship with the word, it is the truth you need for any and every situation.
Confession: Glory to God, I am blessed, I have the Word, therefore I treasure it. I enjoy truth all the days of my life.
Prater: May I not compromise the Truth I know in his year 2020
