ASK FOR WISDOM

“And if any one of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask God for it, who gives with open hand to all men, and without upbraiding; and it will be given him.”
James 1:5 (Weymouth)
Main Text:

God asked Solomon in a dream to seek anything He desired, and the Lord would give it to Him. Instead of asking for long life, riches or honor, Solomon asked for wisdom. It pleased the Lord for what he sought after and it was granted to him in addition to what he didn’t ask for. 1 Kings 3:13 (TEV) “I will also give you what you have not asked for: all your life you will have wealth and honor, more than that of any other king.”

God fulfilled His promise to make Solomon wise and wealthy, giving him great insight and a breadth of understanding as measureless of the sand on the seashore. Wisdom may not be something you’ve ever thought about asking God for. It may be the last thing on your list of prayer requests right now but maybe it’s time for a change.

To ask Jesus for wisdom is to put yourself in a posture of trusting and depending on His unmerited favor. Although Solomon only asked for wisdom, the Lord added “riches, wealth and honor” to him. Too many people are chasing riches, wealth and honor, not realizing that they come through the wisdom of Jesus.

Prayer: Dear Lord, I ask and receive your wisdom in my affairs – business, finances, and family life, I know what to do per time and what steps to take per time in Jesus name. Amen.
