NOT JUST A SPEAKING TOOL

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is still to be understood by some believers. A story was told of an old man who had really coveted to be baptized with the gift. He met a church leader who is a pastor to guide him in his quest. The pastor then asked him to pray. The old man began to say Lord make me holy to be able to speak in tongue, please make me holy. The pastor stopped him in anger that he was praying amiss. He told the man he was holy the very day he gave his life to Christ and all he needed to do is ask for the baptism.

Beloved, there is need for us to know that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is inevitable for an encounter with power in life. The baptism is not the tongue but the power. The speaking in tongues however, is just the initial evidence of this power. Many out of ignorance denied themselves of this God given privilege and they prove to know better than our Lord Jesus Christ who said, “now I will send the Holy Spirit, just as my Father promised. But stay here in the city until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with power from heaven”. Luke 24:49.

Note that Jesus didn’t say “until the Holy Spirit comes and fills you with tongue but rather He said power”. So don’t mistake the power for tongue. You will receive power when the Holy Ghost is come upon you is the word of Jesus but the tongue is the initial evidence of this in-filling of the power.

Are you baptized in the Holy Ghost with evidence of speaking with other tongues? Speaking in tongue is praying in the spirit and once you switch to that realm no demon can understand you. Ask the Lord Jesus to baptize you with the Holy Ghost (Matthew 3: 11)

Prayer: Lord Jesus, baptize me with Your Holy Spirit
