REMAINING ON TOP WITH GOD

“Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation…” (NIV). Matthew 26:41
Matthew 26:41
Main Text:

When you are in God’s presence and the enemy comes against you, the Lord rises in your defense. Psalm 27:2 says, “When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.” Our enemies will be ones to stumble and fall because we are made of steel and the power of the Almighty God, before whom we stand, works in our favor.

A prayerful Christian is also constantly in the presence of an all-knowing God. In John 21:17 Peter said to Jesus, “… Lord, Thou knowest all things…” God knows all things including the past, present, and future of everyone and everything. He knows the things that happened yesterday that are impacting a believer’s today and may affect his tomorrow. He knows what steps a believer needs to take in order to avoid being trampled under foot by demons. He reveals these things to us as we fellowship with Him, and that gives us an edge over our adversary. A prayerless Christian misses out on information that could help him avoid being attacked and thrown down by the enemy. Consider what Proverbs 22:3 says, “A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.”

The forces of darkness can never defeat a prayerful Christian. Satan understands this very well, and so he is out to ensure that he renders believers prayerless. Prayerlessness is a wicked weapon which the devil can actually use to cast believers down from their exalted position in Christ, steal from them, kill, and destroy them, especially where a prayerless Christian does not have anyone standing in the gap for him.

It is very important for us to have a praying attitude. There would be a time when we are weary in praying but the Holy Spirit is always there to help in time of our weakness and such help in most cases, is for the praying believer.

Do you want to remain on top? Pray without ceasing.

Prayer: Keep me on top with your Spirit O Lord
