DON’T GIVE UP 1
For men shall be … despisers of those that are good.â€
II Timothy 3:3
Main Text:
The apostle Paul persevered despite persecution and affliction (2 Tim. 3:10–11). He viewed life with realism, recognizing that as followers of Christ we will suffer persecution (vv. 12–13), but he instructed Timothy to place his faith in God and the encouragement of the Scriptures (vv. 14–15). Doing so would help him face discouragement and endure with hope. At the end of his life, Paul said, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith” (4:7).
We too can allow the Scriptures to strengthen us to press on in the race marked out for us. For our God is both a promise-making and promise-keeping God and will reward those who faithfully finish the race (v. 8). Never give up. Don't be impatient. God's timing is not our timing. To Him a day is as 1,000 years and 1,000 years is as a day (Psalm 90:4; 2 Peter 3:8). Be obedient to the heavenly vision and trust Him that in His divine timing the dream that He has placed in your heart will become a reality. If God gives you a vision don't be discouraged if it doesn't become a reality immediately. Some of the most important impressions that God has placed in my heart, like community impartation programs around Ifo LG in Ogun State, took serious convictions and faith to become reality. "For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry" (Habakkuk 2:3, KJV).
Malachi 3:14-15, “Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept His ordinance, ...” This is what is going on in the minds of weak Christians at this time. I am sure you will not have such mind because, the Word of God is active in you and no situation will make you give up on God in this 2018.
Prayer: Father, may I not give up on my dreams in Jesus’ name
