GOOD OR BAD, HE WILL STILL BE GODâ€
“In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity consider: surely God has appointed the one as well as the other…â€
Ecclesiastes 7:14
Main Text:
I thought to myself, “If God be for me, and I pay my tithe, then I can never lack”. But later in life, experience has taught me that even believers face challenges. When bad things happen to Christians, we silently get disappointed because of our expectations. This is because we have not had a full grip of the counsel of God-His Word. Let’s see a few things in the Bible.
In 1Kings 19, Elijah ran for his dear life. Was it because of his sin that Jezebel sought to kill him? If you think that the only reason we suffer is because of sins, then answer the question. In Matt. 2, when Herod sought to kill Jesus, as a baby, what was His sin? When Paul severally said he suffered, was robbed and persecuted unfairly, was it because his sins were too many? In 2 Cor. 12:7-9, the same Paul had a disease. Remember that God had used the same Paul to raise the dead, heal countless sick people, cured diseases. How come then, that he himself had a disease that he lived with for the rest of his life? We cannot be truthful to say that the sin of all these ones haunted them. No! Why then do good things happen to the bad, and bad things happen to the good? There are various reasons but let’s consider just one, today.
God’s path is a mystery and ordinarily, no man can understand it unless He shows us some things. Eccl 17:14. Jesus Christ puts it this way: “for He (God) makes His sun shine on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matt. 5:45. Therefore, know that in every trial, there is a glory ahead. So, hold on firmly to God, plea for His mercy every moment of your life and by His illumination, your path shall be glorious. He’ll see you through.
Prayer: In times of test, trials and adversities help me to trust You still.
