WHEN YOU ARE ON THE SCALE

“And this is the writing that was written, Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin.
Daniel 5:25-28
Main Text:

Daniel chapter 5 tells us of the time when Belshazzar the king of Babylon had a feast during which he dishonored the Lord. The Lord sent a hand to write a message to him on the wall.  When Daniel was brought in before the king to read and interpret the writing, he said in Daniel 5:25-28, “...This is the interpretation of the thing: Mene; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. Tekel; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. Peres; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.” According to the writing on the wall, Belshazzar had been weighed in the balances and was found wanting, and we know what the result was (verse 30).

We have been saved, sanctified, filled with the Spirit of God, and sent on a mission. We are all expecting the coming of our Lord Jesus and the reward that will be ours on the last day. However, one thing to which many believers do not seem to pay much attention is how much they actually weigh in God’s balances. This is because they do not realize that we are weighed on a constant basis. There will definitely be a lot of surprises at the end of this race because many who are believed to be doing very well will be nowhere while many of whom people do not think much will be greatly rewarded. How much do you weigh in the hands of the Lord? How much are you worth in His sight? What does God think of the services you are rendering in His house for which you are being praised by many and envied by some? I Corinthians 3:12-15 says, “...every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire...If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.’’

Prayer: Keep me strong in You O Lord
