THE MOMENT OF VICTORY
…And rescues me from my enemies. You hold me safe beyond the reach of my enemies.’
Psalm 18: 48
Main Text:
As you look back over your life, do you have any defining moments? Unusual things that happened, achievements made, crises you lived through, that set or changed the course of your life? We understand that nothing just happens. God uses our defining moments in life to refine our faith. When God asked Noah to build a huge boat hundreds of miles from the nearest body of water, you think Noah would have said, “You’ve got to be kidding me! What are my friends and neighbors going to think?” The crazy things that God asks us to do today may not be on the same scale, yet even the small sacrifices we make for Jesus (i.e. setting aside time to worship every week, our financial support of the work of the church…) define our faith in powerful ways.
In today’s text, Samson’s relatives bond and delivered him to their enemies because they felt threatened by the Philistines. He couldn’t harm his relatives but he sheepishly gave himself up to them. His enemies rejoiced.
The Philistines jumped for joy. From the story, we deduced that the greatest enemy to face is the enemy within – your flesh, desires, habits, character flaws, and etc.
Often times, the external foe cannot make an inroad but for the backing of the internal one.
Joseph’s brothers thought they had had him. But, God was giving him a free ride to his glory. Every plot to kill your dreams shall fail. Any attempt to truncate your destiny shall be foiled. Every attempt to push you very far from your goal shall pull you nearer to the solutions in Jesus’ name.
This season God shall arise on your behalf. He shall fight against all your external and internal enemies. Psalm 2:15 says when people gather to plan against you, God will laugh at them and arise on your behalf. This is your moment of availing by the prevailing Word of God that is at work.in you.
Prayer: O Lord, turn my struggles into a miracle this month in Jesus’ name.
