CHRISTIAN COURTESY 2

“Finally, all of you be of one mind, having compassion for one another; love as brothers, be tenderhearted, be courteous.”
1 Peter 3:8 (NKJV)
Main Text:

As mentioned yesterday, courtesy is polite behavior and the showing of proper manners. An example of courtesy is when you shake hands politely when you meet someone and say please thank you, etc. Courtesy is also the practice of saying thank you. When greeted at your office, home or the society, your response should be appropriate, seasoned with love. Whether verbally or by text, courtesy demands that you respond the same way someone started a conversation with you albeit politely.  1 Corinthians 14:40 (MSG).

God has established His church as “the light of the world” (Matt. 5:14–16) a beacon that shows forth the way to truth in the midst of a creation that has been darkened by sin. Among other things, this means that there should be an observable difference in the values and behaviors of Christians and those of the non-believers around us. Believers, of course, still face the same temptations as unregenerate people (1 John 1:8–9), but over time, the Holy Spirit does His work in His people, conforming them to the image of Christ (2 Cor. 3:18).

How are we treating others? Are we imitating Christ? As Christians, we believe that human beings are made in the image of God and reflect their Creator. We should acknowledge others, and our behavior towards them should affirm their worth as reflecting the image of God according to Romans 12:10 (NKJV). We should value people, our priorities and behavior should reflect that.

Christians should be godly in speech and in conduct. Throughout the New Testament are multiple admonitions for how Christians are to conduct themselves before the watching world. Our deportment and our speech reveals the reality of the work that the Spirit of God is doing in our lives.  1 Peter 3:8Now finally, all of you should be like-minded and sympathetic, should love believers, and be compassionate and humble.” (HCSB) Good manners are the basis of love and respect to each other. We are to show courtesy to all people.

Confession: I declare that God will rescue me from every trap and protect me from every disease. I declare that I am covered and protected by His outstretched arms. I declare God’s faithful promises are my armor, and my protection. I am blessed.
