THE GREAT COMMISSION
“And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.â€
Mark 16:15 (KJV)
Main Text:
This commission wasn’t a suggestion it was a command, if it was a suggestion, we probably would be calling it the Great Suggestion. However, Jesus commanded every believer to not only be hearers of His Word, but also sharers of His Word. He expects us to preach the gospel whenever we can or talk about Him daily to at least one person.
He solemnly commissioned the apostles and his ministers to go forth among all nations to talk about Him and this applies to us today. The salvation they were to preach is a common salvation; whoever will let him come and take the benefits; all are welcome to Christ. The Great Commission is the end of a gospel and the beginning of faith in actions for all Christians.
Jesus Christ calls every Christian to step out in faith and spread the Good News. People who obey this command change their spiritual lives forever! It could be spreading the Good News to a neighbor or moving to another country to reach people there. It could be sharing with the less fortunate kids down the street or spreading the Word in some town miles away. Wherever we go, every faithful Christian is compelled through obedience to share the gospel.
Prayer: Father in the name of Jesus, I receive the Spirit of boldness to share your Word in public without fear of what might happen to me or who is looking at me.
