STRIVE FOR A GOOD GROUND
“Still other seeds fell on fertile soil, and they produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been plantedâ€
Matthew 13:8
Main Text:
There are different kinds of seeds to sow, but do you know the seed that produces the best crop? It is dependent on the nature of ground. When the ground is fertile and nourishing you can be sure your crops will be fantastic.
The seed of God's Word planted on the soil of our hearts needs good mind (ground) to germinate. The more of the good Word you take into your heart, the more abundant harvest it will produce. Our job, as believers, is to make sure we have good ground.
However, if it’s possible to open the heart of the person next to you and probably have a look at what is inside, you will be shocked at what you will see. Some of us are so weak that every form of wrong seeds is sown in our heart through words, fables, lies etc. The Bible says guard your heart with all diligence for out of it come the issues of life. Let your heart be clean before God so that it can accommodate God’s spirit all the time. The Psalmist prayed to God to create in him a new heart. What about you?
The scripture tells us there are things that can choke the seed of the Word out of our hearts. The cares of this world, greed and selfish act are thorns that can stop the seed from growing. If you have a hard or dry mind today, God wants to soften it. He promises in the book of Ezekiel that He will take out the stony, hard heart, and He will replace it with a new heart, a heart that is open to Him. And when you have an open and receptive heart, you have good ground! The seed of the Word will take root and grow, and it will produce an abundant harvest of hope no matter the troubles in this year of the prevailing Word!
Prayer: Let my heart be a good ground for Your Word.
