THE POWER OF DESIRE 1

“I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore, choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live.”
Deuteronomy 30:19 (KJV)
Main Text:

Every human was created with the power of choice, the power to desire anything he wants. Jesus affirms this in Matthew 6:24No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” This shows us we can desire who and what we serve. God gave man this power when He created the universe. He admonishes us to choose life, because that’s where the blessing lies. Life in this context is our Lord Jesus and His finished works. The blessing lies in Jesus, in Him were all things made. Colossians 1:16-17 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.” (KJV)

The verb "to desire" in the Scriptures usually means to long for, to ask for, to demand. God expects us to desire what the death of Jesus bore for us on the Cross. It is poor stewardship not to desire what Jesus provided. Jesus bore for us redemption, reconciliation back to the Father, freedom from sin, wisdom and all round prosperity.

Confession: I choose God, I believe His word, therefore, I am blessed and I walk in abundance, Glory to God.

Prayer: My desires are met in the Lord Jesus Christ
