MINISTERING TO THE LORD 3
“As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.â€
Acts 13:2 (KJV)
Main Text:
The church at Antioch is located at Southern Turkey. It was greatly blessed with the finest men of God who provided leadership and training in the scriptures. Barnabas was a reminder of the sweetness of God. Simeon (called Niger) was a man from North Africa, some speculate that He might be the one who carried the cross for Jesus. Lucius of Cyrene. Manaen was the foster brother of Herod, and Saul, who reminds us the importance of service to the Lord.
The verb “separate” is the word “aphorizo”. It is used three different times in Saul’s life. At his birth, he was separated to God (Gal. 1:15), at his conversion he was set apart for the gospel (Rom. 1:1), at Antioch he was separated for specific service (Acts 13:2). Accepting and obeying God’s call threw them forward into a life and ministry of divine purpose that radically affected the development and growth of the Church.
When you accept and obey God’s plan for your life either in business of ministry, you reap the reward a thousand times more. These men never thought that their legacy will still be spoken of, however, it grows stronger daily, when you obey God, history will always remember you. Choose to follow God’s plan for your life, but first decide that you will minister unto Him.
Confession: I choose to obey the Word, I am blessed and highly favored, as I minister before the Lord, mountains fall before me, I am prosperous!
