MINISTERING TO YOUR MAN OF GOD
“The man under Christian instruction should be willing to contribute towards the livelihood of his teacher. Don’t be under any illusion: you cannot make a fool of God! A man’s harvest in life will depend entirely on what he sows.”
Galatians 6:6-7 (PHILLIPS)
Main Text: Main text: Luke 8:3
It’s important we honor our man of God from our livelihood. It’s quite daunting that many individuals have never sown a seed to their man of God. The Scriptures are clear on this matter: those who receive Christian instruction should give from their substance to the teacher of God’s Word. As believers, we must learn to give—not just to the ministry, which is important, but also directly to the teacher of God’s Word. The Scriptures make it clear that it’s an illusion to think giving to your man of God is shortchanging you. When you honor God’s servant sent to you from your substance, you will reap beyond what you have sown.
This was exemplified in the ministry of Jesus Christ, our model. Luke 8:3 states, “Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s agent Susanna, and many others who used to look after his comfort from their own resources.” Certain individuals partnered with Jesus and ensured that His welfare was their responsibility. The scripture says they ministered to Him from their own resources, and God
blessed them for it. We must take after this model and honor our man of God in the same way. The man of God prays for us, teaches us, and does much more. Therefore, it is important that we minister to him and ensure his well-being.
1 Corinthians 9:11-12 (TLB) states, “We have planted good spiritual seed in your souls. Is it too much to ask, in return, for mere food and clothing? You give them to others who preach to you, and you should. But shouldn’t we have an even greater right to them? Yet we have never used this right but supply our own needs without your help. We have never demanded payment of any kind for fear that, if we did, you might be less interested in our message to you from Christ.” Apostle Paul mentioned this scripture to emphasize the importance of taking care of our man of God. We must develop the culture of honoring and supporting our spiritual leaders. This is one ticket to unending prosperity. God is not mocked; whatever a man sows, he will reap. This verse of scripture wasn’t intended for curses but for the honoring of God’s servants in our lives.
Confession:
Heavenly Father, I thank You for blessing me and surrounding me with Your favor. I declare that I honor Your servants in my life and that my giving brings prosperity and abundance. As I minister from my substance, I trust in Your provision and guidance. Thank You for the opportunity to contribute to Your work and for the blessings that flow from honoring Your servants. In Jesus’ Name, amen.
