PRAISING THE LORD!

“And David danced before the Lord with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod.”
2 Samuel 6:14
Main Text:

One of the most successful persons in scripture is King David. He fought in so many battles and never lost a battle! Why? Because he was “praise conscious” David constantly praised God even when it seemed like help wasn’t on the way. He believed in whom He put his trust. David lived a life dedicated to praise. He danced before the Lord shamelessly. He didn’t care what anyone thought. His wife, Michal mocked him for praising God shamelessly, and David responded to her saying “God made me king instead of your father” he kept dancing before the Lord and God prospered him the more, whilst the mocker was barren until the day of her death. (2 Sam 6:20-23)

Dancing and rejoicing before the Lord is an effective weapon we use to wage war against the enemy (Ps 149). In 2nd Chron. 20, we see an interesting story. The Moabites, Ammonites, and Meunites came up against King Jehoshaphat. They had a great army and without any doubt they were going to destroy this king and his kingdom. In fear the king went on a fast to inquire of the Lord and a word came saying “This battle is not yours but God’s” and that gave this king strength. For the first time in history, they approached the battlefield praising this must have looked foolish but it was a key to victory. Jehoshaphat sent the singers ahead of his army and as they praised, ambushes against their enemy was established. Praise won the battle for King Jehoshaphat.

We believe God for great things, however, not everything will answer to prayer and fasting, we have to spend some time during the day praising and dancing before the Lord, because praise is what brings God on the scene.

Confession: I live a life dedicated to God, I praise Him all the days of my life, I enjoy his presence and I will always dance before Him. I am blessed.
